The Islamic Center Gazi-Husrevbeg is a vibrant, multi-generational community serving Detroit, Clinton Township, and the surrounding areas. For over two decades, we have been a spiritual home for the Bosniak-American community and all Muslims in the region. Whether you are joining us from the city where our journey began or our current home in the suburbs, we welcome you to our growing family.
Our Vision
Our immediate priority is the $1.2 Million Phase 1 campaign. This critical phase focuses on the "Hayes Front"—transforming the building's exterior with a Qibla-aligned facade, professional landscaping, and securing the structural shell.
A Living Project: Completing the Hayes Front is just the beginning. As we finish the exterior, we will transition into future phases, including the interior sanctuary finishing, the construction of our landmark minaret, and the repurposing of our current prayer area. By focusing on Phase 1 today, we are laying the essential foundation for a multi-year master plan that will evolve alongside our community's needs.
Current ICGHB building
In 2020, we transitioned to our current location at 37838 Hayes Rd. This facility allowed us to expand our services and welcome more families than ever before. Through recent additions and continuous renovations, we have transformed this space into a vibrant hub for Islamic education, youth programs, and community outreach. It is the foundation upon which we are building our future.
Detroit Mosque
As our community flourished, we moved from the garage to our first dedicated building on Joseph Campau Avenue in Detroit. This location served as a vital anchor for our congregation for many years, providing a true sense of identity and a gathering place for prayer, education, and social connection. It was here that the foundations of our community's strength were truly built, paving the way for our eventual move to Clinton Township.
Beginning in a garage
Our story began in 2001 with a small, dedicated group of believers and a big vision. From our second home in Hamtramck to our very first gathering place in 2001—a humble garage on Florian Street—the spirit of ICGHB has always been defined by its people. We look back at these early years with gratitude, remembering the sacrifices made to establish a spiritual home for our community.
2001: The journey begins at the humble garage on Florian Street, Hamtramck.
2005: Moved to our first dedicated building at 12436 Joseph Campau Ave, Detroit.
2020: Expanded to our current facility at 37838 Hayes Rd, Clinton Township.
2024: Successfully completed the structure of our New Mosque Building.
Current Phase: Fundraising $1.2 Million to build the Qibla-aligned entrance and complete landscaping
Every brick laid and every prayer offered since 2001 has led us to this moment. Our history is not just about buildings, but about the community that fills them. As we look toward our new campus, we remain committed to the same values that started in a small garage: faith, unity, and service. We invite you to be a part of this living history as we build a permanent legacy for our children and the future of Islam in Michigan.

In the "Memo" field, please note: "New Campus Fund."
The "engine" of this project is our families. We are looking for 40 visionary families to join our Community Builder circle with a 5-year pledge of $500 per month. This manageable monthly contribution creates a $30,000 total impact, securing your family’s name on a classroom or the Abdesthana and ensuring the completion of our campus.
Q: Why is our current goal $1.2 Million if the building is already standing? A: The New Mosque Building is currently a structural shell. This $1.2 Million phase covers the "Hayes Front" transformation—including the Qibla-aligned facade, professional landscaping, and the complete interior build-out (flooring, lighting, and heating) to make the sanctuary functional for prayer.
Q: Does $1.2 Million cover the entire project?
A: No. The $1.2 Million is specifically for Phase 1, which covers the exterior "Hayes Front" and structural realignment. Because costs for interior finishing, the minaret, and heritage hall renovations fluctuate with material prices, we will announce the budgets for those future phases as we approach them. This "Phase-by-Phase" approach ensures we remain debt-free and fiscally responsible.
Q: Is a Minaret included in the plans? A: Yes, we have officially approved plans for a landmark minaret. While our immediate priority is completing the main entrance and interior prayer hall to open the doors for our community, the minaret remains a key part of our finalized campus vision.
Q: What are the "Donor Classes" and Naming Rights? A: We offer several tiers for families to leave a lasting legacy of Sadaqah Jariyah:
Grand Vakif ($250,000+): Naming of the Main Prayer Hall.
Campus Founder ($150,000+): Naming of the Heritage & Social Hall.
Minaret Sponsor ($150,000+): Naming of the Landmark Minaret.
Legacy Guardian ($100,000+): Naming of the Main Entrance.
Education Patron ($50,000+): Naming of the Library or Youth Wing.
Q: What is the "Community Builder" Circle? A: This is the "engine" of our project. We are looking for 40 families to commit to a 5-year pledge of $500 per month. This $30,000 total contribution secures your family’s name on a classroom or the Abdesthana, ensuring that community ownership remains at the heart of our mosque.
Q: How can I contribute if I cannot commit to a large pledge? A: Every dollar is a "brick" in our new home. You can make general contributions via Zelle using the QR codes at the bottom of this page. Please note "New Campus Fund" in the memo.
Q: When is the project deadline?
A: Our goal is to have the "Hayes Front" completed and the interior fully functional by June 2027.
